The Liberty Mtn-View Eagle Boys Basketball took on the Doniphan Dons this past Thursday night, December 5th 2024 at Doniphan High School. The team started out slow but was able to pull off a 61-45 win and bring the team to 3-0 on the season.
1st Quarter: Both teams take an Early 2-2 lead. Scores made by Reese and Tune for the Liberty Eagles and Gentry and Haygood for the Doniphan Dons. Dons jump out to an 8-4 lead as Liberty gets into some foul trouble. Emmett Jones makes an easy bucket and brings the lead up to 12-4. Some luck though as we make it to 1:38 as Gavin Reese has the ability to drive back some momentum at the throw line. He makes 1-2 and the Doniphan lead is now 12-5. Liberty also having some issues in turnovers as the ball goes loose with the only saving grace as the possession arrow. Luckily in this instance with only twenty seconds, a pass play between Alex Tune, Gavin Reese, and Lincoln Hines. Tune tries the three, misses. Putback by Brayden Mays. Quarter ends with Dons leading 12-5.
2nd Quarter: Liberty builds some momentum as Parker Tune scores on a three and brings the Eagles within four. Mays picks up a foul and two more points at the throw line for the Dons. But another three pointer by Parker gets the Eagles up within a one point trail behind the Dons. Eagles are picking up their defensive pressure as the seem to look to shut down Haygood. Another foul and Haygood shoots two as the lead goes back up to four. Score evens out too 21-18. As Blake Lewis shoots, makes a bucket for Doniphan and a bucket by Draydon Wells for Liberty.
HALFTIME- Doniphan Dons: 21/ Liberty Eagles: 18
3rd Quarter: Blake Lewis with a three to start the quarter for the Dons. Reese answers back with a layup. Lowry who also has played some good shots underneath in the game is giving the Dons some good luck with putbacks as Eagles are trying to get a stop. Parker Tune shoots the three ball and gets the Eagles back within four. After another layup from Tune on rebound, ball gets out to Emmett Jones who takes a series of passes and tries to get another shot off. Two more threes and Liberty leads by one, 32-31. Parker Tune goes to the line after fowling Lowery and makes 1-2, Liberty now leads by Tune. Alex Tune takes it in on an easy layup and makes two more bringing the lead to 35-33. Doniphan turns it over for a fourth time as Parker Tune gets it up again on a layup,
4th Quarter: A takeaway and a good three begin the fourth quarter by Alex Tune as Liberty has turned around the game and made it all the way up to eight. Tables have turned and Doniphan is now having foul trouble. Tune scores again up in the lane by two. Rebound by Jackson for Doniphan who tries the three but steals back. Two more by Alex Tune and the Eagles are now up by double digits. Eagles are able to climb up to at least fifteen with some more easy layups by Parker Tune and some good play at the Free throw line.
FINAL SCORE- Liberty Eagles: 61/Doniphan Dons: 45

Liberty Eagles will be back on the Air next Friday as they travel to Bunker to take on the Bunker Eagles. Time for this game will be 8 PM, Next Friday on The Fox 96.9.
