The Liberty Eagles and the Licking Wildcats met Thursday night for a chance to play the Thayer Bobcats for the Class 3 District 10 championship.
The Wildcats took an early lead in the game. Early in the second quarter, the score was 16-12 in favor of the Wildcats.
The Eagles picked up the pace and managed to take the lead into halftime. 28-24 Eagles at the half.
The Wildcats slowed the Eagles in the third quarter, but the Eagles still outscored the Wildcats 9-7. 37-31 Eagles at the end of three.
The Wildcats extended their defense toward the end of the fourth in hopes of overcoming the deficit.
It wasn’t enough.
Liberty wins 59-50.
