Liberty Falls in Season Opener

On Friday night the Liberty Eagles played host to the Strafford Indians at the nest.  Strafford took the ball first and scored first on a short field goal to take a 3-0 lead.  After Liberty’s first possession ended with a punt, Strafford took possession and Kyle Roberts intercepted a pass and returned it all of the w-ay to the end zone.  After a two point conversion by Gavin Reese, the Eagles took a 8-3 lead.  The very next offensive play for Strafford resulted in a long Touchdown run and a 10-3 lead for the Indians.  After two more unanswered scores Gavin Reese ran for a touchdown to pull closer.  Strafford took a 23-14 lead into halftime.  Liberty come out of the halftime with a scoring drive and pulled within one point 23-22 but was unable to score again and fall 34-22.  Next Saturday they will travel to West Platte with a 1:00 Kickoff.
