Mann Selected for SEC, National Player of the Week Honors

COLUMBIA, Mo. – After homering in each of Missouri’s four baseball games last week, Luke Mann was honored by the Southeastern Conference as Co-Player of the Week on Monday. Additionally, Collegiate Baseball Newspaper cited the Tigers third baseman as one of its national players of the week for the period of May 1-7.

Mann, who shared the SEC’s weekly honor with Ole Miss’s Calvin Harris, logged conference bests of nine hits, five home runs and 27 total bases last week, helping the Tigers average just under 12 runs per game while logging a 3-1 week, including an SEC series win over Harris’s Rebels this past weekend in Columbia. The Tigers fifth-year senior hit .600 (9-for-15) and drove in 12 runs for the week, while slugging 1.800 and posting an OPS of 2.480.

The St. Louis native matched a career best with four hits vs. Kansas (May 2), doubling three times and homering to lift the Tigers to a 9-7 win. He went deep two more times in Missouri’s come-from-behind victory in game one of its series with Ole Miss (May 4), then homered for the third-straight game in the second contest—a 13-3 run-rule victory that clinched the series win for the Tigers. In the finale, Mann blasted a grand slam to match his personal single-season high for home runs (17) and move into a tie with Mike Rogers for the No. 2 position on Mizzou’s career homers list.

Mann, who is batting a club-best .326 for the year, was named to the Preseason All-SEC team prior to the start of the 2023 campaign, becoming the first Tiger to earn preseason honors of any kind since Kameron Misner was a second-team preseason All-SEC choice in 2018.

Mann became the second Tiger recognized by Collegiate Baseball as one of its national players of the week this spring. He joined Hank Zeisler, who was tabbed for the same honor on two previous occasions (Feb. 27 and March 20).
