WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Mehdi Pissis, a member of the Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Basketball team, will continue his collegiate career at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.
Pissis recently signed a national letter of intent to play for the Lions, an NCAA Division I program, beginning this fall. The Lions complete in the Southland Conference and finished with a 19-15 record this past season.
“We are happy for Mehdi and excited to watch his career at the next level,” Grizzly Basketball Head Coach Jared Phay said. “We had a lot of injuries this year, but Mehdi was able to step in a fill a lot of those roles for us. He had to play point guard and sometimes play a four, but he always played well and did whatever we asked him to do.”
Pissis, a 6-foot, 6-inch guard from Paris, France, averaged 9.5 points per game and shot 39% from 3-point range. His efforts earned him second team honors on the Missouri Community College Althetic Conference (MCCAC) All-Conference team.
He also was recently recognized at the Grizzlies Gala for maintaining a 4.0 grade point average.
“Mehdi came here to have an opportunity to play at the NCAA Division I level, and it’s great to see him accomplish his goal,” Phay said.
