Three members of the University of Missouri men’s basketball were honored on Monday by the Southeastern Conference in the league’s postseason awards.
Graduate student Caleb Grill was named SEC Sixth Man of the Year, junior Mark Mitchell collected All-SEC Third Team accolades and sophomore Anthony Robinson II was named to the SEC All-Defensive Team.
The second Tiger in school history to collect Sixth Man of the Year honors by the conference, Grill finished the regular season ranked second on the team with 14.2 points and first during league play with 14.8 points per game. Additionally, his 14.2 points are the most in the country by a player with fewer than five starts.
Grill also ranks among the nation’s elite shooters. The Wichita, Kansas, native is 19th nationally with a 3-point clip of 42.3 percent, while placing 52nd with 2.85 triples per game. He was named SEC Player of the Week on Jan. 20 after averaging 19.5 points in wins over No. 5 Florida and Arkansas.
Mitchell collects third-team all-conference honors in his first season in the Black & Gold, finishing the regular season as the team’s top scorer with 14.3 points per game. The junior is also second on the team with 4.7 rebounds, third with 62 blocks, fifth with 31 steals and first with 25 blocks.
Overall, Mitchell is one of just 12 players nationally – and just one of five from a power-conference school – with 400 points, 125 rebounds, 60 assists, 30 steals and 25 blocks.
Robinson becomes just the second Tiger in school history to earn SEC All-Defensive Team accolades, joining Dru Smith in 2020-21. The only underclassmen in the conference to earn the accolade the last two seasons, Robinson leads Mizzou and ranks 38th nationally with 2.03 steals per game, swiping 61 in 30 games as a sophomore.
The Tallahassee, Florida, native has also added 9.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists during the 2024-25 season.
The trio is set to lead Mizzou into the postseason, starting on Thursday when the Tigers play in the SEC Tournament Second Round at 6 p.m. against either Mississippi State or LSU.
