Mizzou Athletics Receives $2M Gift From Mizzou Alum Dave Johnson

COLUMBIA, Mo. – During unprecedented and difficult times, Mizzou Athletics has received a $2 Million gift from Dave Johnson and his wife Sandra Castetter, Director of Athletics Jim Sterk announced Wednesday.

“Dave and Sandra have been tremendous friends of Mizzou Athletics for many years, and we are so grateful that they have stepped forward during this difficult time to make a transformational gift that will have a lasting impact on our program for years to come,” Sterk said. “As Mizzou Athletics’ seeks to Win it Right, our primary mission will continue to afford our student-athletes the best possible academic and athletic experience during their time as Tigers, and in order to continue to do so, contributions such as this, combined with the unwavering support of Mizzou fans everywhere, are vital for us to achieve those goals.”

Johnson, a 1978 Mizzou graduate, has been giving continuously to the University of Missouri and Mizzou Athletics since 1978. He and his wife live in Kansas City, Missouri, and have two children, Kelly Johnson and Corey Johnson, who was a 2012 Mizzou graduate.

Upon graduating from Mizzou, he joined the international accounting firm of Arthur Andersen & Company, where he specialized in real estate transactions until leaving the firm in 1988 to pursue a career in the acquisition and management of commercial and multi-family real estate projects. A licensed real estate broker and certified public accountant in the State of Missouri, Dave currently serves as Chairman & CEO of Kansas City-based Maxus Properties. He is a member of the Trulaske Business School Dean’s Advisory Board and the First Missouri Bank Board headquartered in Brookfield, Mo. Dave also founded Chicken N Pickle, which currently has four locations in the Midwest.

“I want this donation to challenge others in the state and in the Mizzou community across the world to help support Mizzou Athletics during these challenging times,” Johnson said. “Now more than ever, it’s critical that we give back to Mizzou and support our student-athletes. Let’s do our part this year, no matter how many games or events we can attend!”
