CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Mizzou Baseball (4-3) fell 5-2 Monday afternoon to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in its final contest of a four-game swing in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 advantage after two innings of play, but couldn’t extend their lead the rest of the way. The Islanders evened the game at two apiece in the fifth inning and added a single run in the seventh and two in the eighth.
Mizzou possessed ample opportunities to score additional runs Monday, as it left 11 total runners on base. The Tigers consistently put pressure on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, evident by leaving at least one man on base in each of the first through seventh innings, but couldn’t ultimately capitalize.
Despite the loss, freshman Ben Pedersen shined in his first collegiate start by tossing 4.0 shutout innings. The Duluth, Minnesota, native allowed only one hit while striking out two.

Coach Bieser Postgame Soundbites
On Monday’s contest against the Islanders…
“The difference was early in the game. We couldn’t capitalize on opportunities and we knew it’d come back and bite us.”
On Pedersen’s strong outing on the mound…
“Yeah, I thought he did a really good job. I think he was tiring a little bit late and we had to go to the bullpen. It was good though to see we could take his positive outing away from the ballgame.”
