Mizzou Baseball’s Belk Named 2021 Collegiate Baseball Preseason Second-Team All-American

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball redshirt junior 1B Brandt Belk was tabbed a 2021 Collegiate Baseball Preseason Second-Team All-American, announced Tuesday by the organization. The Tigers have now been represented on a preseason All-American list in each of the past six years. Belk joins former Tigers Ian Bedell (2020), Kameron Misner (2019), TJ Sikkema (2018) and Tanner Houck (2016-17) as individuals to garner recognition prior to a season.

Last May following a shortened campaign due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Belk garnered 2020 Collegiate Baseball Second-Team All-American honors. While the Tigers were limited to only 16 games last year, the Houston native quickly emerged as one of the top hitting threats in the Southeastern Conference. Belk hit .457 (21-for-56) with seven runs scored, three doubles, two home runs, nine RBI and four stolen bases.

His .457 average ranked 11th in the NCAA and tops in the SEC. Additionally, Belk’s outstanding .544 on-base percentage placed 24th in the country and fifth in the conference.

In his hometown tournament at the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic (Feb. 28 – March 1), Belk earned All-Tournament Team accolades after hitting .538 with two runs scored, two doubles and nine total bases.

Despite missing the Tigers’ last three games of the 2020 campaign, Belk paced Mizzou hitters with seven multi-hit games and four multi-RBI contests. He produced an outstanding .375 average against left-handed pitchers, while crushing right-handers at a .500 clip. Belk also possessed outstanding situational hitting statistics, batting .429 with two outs and .458 with runners on base.
