COLUMBIA, Mo. — Mizzou Men’s and Women’s Cross Country announced its 2021 schedule, including hosting three home meets at Gans Creek Cross Country Course throughout the 2021 season and culminating in the SEC Cross Country Championships on Friday, Oct. 29.
The Tigers will open its campaign with the Mizzou XC Opener on Friday, Sept. 3. The men will run a 6k and the women will run a 5k at 8:30 a.m. CT and 9 a.m. CT, respectively. The last time the race was held was at L.A. Nickell Golf Course in 2019. The schedule continues Friday, Sept. 17, with the Commodore Classic, hosted by Vanderbilt.
Head cross country coach Marc Burns‘s squad will then return home for the third annual Gans Creek Classic Friday, Oct. 1. At the 2020 running of the event, course records were set by Sarah Chapman for the women’s 6k (20:01.1) and Kieran Wood for the men’s 8k (23:54.5).
Mizzou will conclude the regular season Friday, Oct. 15, heading north to Wisconsin for the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational.
The postseason will begin at home with the running of the SEC Cross Country Championships. The program will host its first conference championship since the 2009 Big 12 Cross Country Championships and for the first time as a member the SEC.
Following the conference meet, the Tigers will run in the NCAA Regionals on Friday, Nov. 12 in Iowa City, Iowa. The season will conclude with the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Fla., on Saturday, Nov. 20.
