Mizzou Cruises Past Lindenwood in Exhibition, 87-39

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Every player that saw the court scored with four in double figures for the Mizzou Women’s Basketball team on Thursday night as the Tigers cruised to an 87-39 victory over Lindenwood in exhibition play inside Mizzou Arena.

The Tigers had four players score in double figures led by junior Hayley Frank with 19 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field with four three-pointers. Frank also registered a team-high eight rebounds to go along with two assists and two steals. Behind Frank was fellow junior Aijha Blackwell with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field with six rebounds.

Off the bench the Tigers got double digit scoring from redshirt senior LaDazhia Williams and freshman Izzy Higginbottom. Williams in 12 minutes of action had 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field with three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Higginbottom had a stellar performance for the Tigers scoring 13 points with two three-pointers in 24 minutes. The freshman guard scored six of her 13 points in the second quarter.

As a team Mizzou shot 50 percent from the field and was 9-of-20 from behind the three-point line. The Tigers outrebounded Lindenwood, 42-27 holding a 13-7 advantage on the offensive glass. Mizzou was strong on the defensive end of the floor, forcing Lindenwood to commit 23 turnovers and scoring 25 points off those turnovers.

The Tigers are back in action on Thursday, Nov.4 for its final exhibition against Southwest Baptist. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. inside Mizzou Arena.

First Quarter

  • Aijha Blackwell with the first points for the Tigers at the 8:55 mark
  • Blackwell scored 4 of the Tigers first 9 points
  • Mizzou made five of their first six field goals to take an 11-2 lead at the 6:20 mark
  • Tigers hold Lindenwood scoreless for 2:30 and take a 13-4 lead at the 4:27 media timeout

  • Mizzou ends the quarter on a 17-5 run
  • Mizzou shooting 61.6 percent from the field and 3-of-5 from long distance.

  • Mizzou starts the second quarter with a 10-0 run to take a 40-11 lead at the 7:49 mark
  • Izzy Higginbottom with back-to-back three-pointers to begin the second
  • The first 10 points in the second quarter have been scored by freshman
  • Mizzou making three straight three-pointers to lead 43-16 at the 6:10 mark
  • Lindenwood goes four minutes without a field goal as Mizzou takes a 47-18 lead with three minutes to go
  • Mizzou ends the second quarter on a 10-0 run, making its final three field goals
  • Lindenwood held scoreless the final 4:39, missing its final six field goals
  • Mizzou outscored Lindenwood 23-9 in the second quarter, shooting 55.6 percent from the field

Third Quarter

  • Aijha Blackwell with two blocks on the first possession for Lindenwood of the third quarter
  • Lindenwood opens the third on a 5-0 run to cut the deficit down to 53-23
  • Mizzou goes on a 12-0 run, making three straight field goals to grab a 65-23 lead
  • Tigers embark on a 13-0 run over a four-minute span to extend lead to 66-23 with three minutes remaining
  • Lindenwood held scoreless for over six minutes as Mizzou goes on a 15-0 run
  • LaDazhia Williams with six points in the third quarter
  • Mizzou shot 50 percent from the field in the third quarter

Fourth Quarter

  • Lindenwood starts off the fourth quarter 3-of-4 from the field
  • Both teams go scoreless as Mizzou held without a field goal for over 2:30. Lindenwood over a three-minute scoring drought
  • Hayley Frank knocks down her fourth three-point of the night with 5:30 remaining
  • Tigers go on a 7-0 run over a four-minute span to grab an 81-35 lead
  • Mizzou on a 9-0 run over six minutes to extend the Tigers lead to 83-35
  • Lindenwood with eight turnovers in the fourth quarter
