Mizzou and Kansas renew one of college football’s oldest rivalries Friday night, and there’s a remarkable statistic attached to this series. Missouri leads the all-time rivalry 59-54-and-1 and has won the last four meetings, but dating back to 1891, neither school has ever put together a winning streak of more than five games. That’s how back-and-forth this rivalry has been. Kickoff is Friday night at 7 o’clock, with Missouri favored by five-and-a-half points.
The Tigers will have to deal with another injury in the backfield. Malae Fonoti suffered a torn ACL after carrying the ball three times in the opener. Missouri still has five running backs available, although Ahmad Hardy has yet to practice. Jamal Roberts and Xai’Shaun Edwards handled most of the work in the opener, combining for 20 carries and 92 yards.
There is some good news up front, though. Star left tackle Cayden Green practiced Monday and is on track to play Friday night. Green missed the opener with an undisclosed injury, and getting him back would be a big boost for the Tigers. He was a first-team All-SEC selection in 2025. Keep an eye on the connection between quarterback Austin Simmons and wide receiver Donovan Olugbode. Olugbode had eight catches and two touchdowns in the opener, so Mizzou will be looking for that connection to continue as the Tigers take on Kansas in another chapter of this longtime rivalry.
