COLUMBIA, Mo. – Coming off the first win of the Stefanie Golan era, the Tigers (1-2) are set for the first of back-to-back matches against Atlantic Coast Conference opponents with Miami (FL). The Hurricanes (2-1) will come to town after defeating Florida by a score of 1-0 in overtime. The match is set for 6 p.m. CT on Thursday evening on SEC Network plus.
Mizzou and Miami have played only once in each program’s history. The Tigers took the sole matchup by a score of 1-0 at a neutral site in Tallahassee, Florida in 2002.
Julissa Cisneros led the Tigers to victory last Friday by scoring a pair of goals for her fifth-career multi-goal effort. The senior is 10th in program history with 22 goals. Additionally, Cisneros is one of six Tigers to have five or more multiple-goal games.
The Tigers’ first goal of the season came from senior Macy Trujillo. After falling behind early, Trujillo tied it up after rebounding her own shot and sending it in to the center of the goal. The official determined that the ball crossed the plain of the goal before the Indiana State defender was able to clear it.
A pair of freshmen in Leah Selm and Milena Fischer collected their first career points in the match. Selm assisted Cisneros’ first goal and Fischer assisted the second.
Ashlyn Mills leads the Tigers in minutes played. The freshman has been on the field for 266 of the 270 minutes the Tigers have been in action. Mills and Fischer are the only two freshman who have started every contest while Jenna McCormick has started two of three.
