Mizzou Softball Faces James Madison in First Columbia Super Regional Since 2013

COLUMBIA, Mo. – For the first time since 2013, Mizzou Softball will host a Super Regional. The eighth-seeded Tigers swept through the Columbia Regional with dominant pitching performances. Over 13 innings, sophomore Jordan Weber allowed only one hit and tossed her first career no-hitter. Freshman Laurin Krings wowed against Northern Iowa by matching a career-high with 10 strikeouts while taking a no hitter into the seventh with two outs. Mizzou did not allow a run during the Regional.

Mizzou faces a tough James Madison program that has rolled through the Colonial Athletic Association and took the Knoxville Regional in just three games, playing each game against a ranked opponent. The pair last faced off in 2020 when JMU ended the Tigers’ early season winning streak in an 8-7 contest where the Dukes walked it off in the bottom of the eighth inning. The contest was played in Clearwater, Florida.

The Tigers will open play with James Madison on Friday, May 28th at 8 p.m. CT on ESPNU. Then, game two is scheduled for Saturday night at 6 p.m. CT, also on ESPNU. If necessary, Sunday’s game will be played at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. CT with television to be determined. Carol Bruggeman and Mike Couzens will be on the call for the game.

Mizzou’s offense has been a force for the entire season. The Tiger bats have already set a program record with 86 home runs on the season. Brooke Wilmes led the way for Missouri with three home runs in the Columbia Regional. The senior has homered in three straight games.

Senior catcher Hatti Moore provided a spark for the Tigers in the regional. Moore went 4-for-4 with three RBI in the opening game vs. UIC. Additionally, she smacked the walkoff single into right to secure the run-rule victory. Over the entire weekend, the senior batted .778, leading all Tiger batters.

Missouri will look to advance to the Women’s College World Series for the first time since 2011.
