Honor also paced the team’s attack with a season-best six assists, while Hodge and Sean East II anchored the defense with six and five steals, respectively.

Overall, the Tigers continue to rack up assists to start the year, dishing out 21 dimes in the contest – their fifth straight game of more than 20 assists.

Both teams started strong on the offensive end as a quick spurt by the hosts was countered by hot shooting from Mississippi Valley State guard Terry Collins – who dropped 20 points in the first 12 minutes of action.

After holding a 40-37 edge at the break, however, Mizzou held Collins and the Delta Devils in check. The Tigers limited him to just seven points in the final 27 minutes of the game as the MU defense keyed the victory in the second 20 minutes of action. Leading, 53-46, Mizzou held MVSU with a point for more than seven minutes as the Tigers forced eight-straight missed field goals to go with five turnovers. Missouri also added 17 points during the seven-minute stretch to turn a seven-point edge into a comfortable 24-point lead, 70-46.

Mizzou then cruised to the victory from there, securing the 21-point win, 83-62.

The Tigers shot 50.0 percent from the field in the contest, including going 10-for-30 from behind the arc. They also held MVSU to 26.9% shooting in the second half (37.3 percent overall), only allowing the Delta Devils to get seven buckets.
