MSHSAA Announces Two New Assistant Executive Directors

COLUMBIA – The Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Alex Huck as Assistant Executive Director, as well as the promotion of Stephanie Turner from Coordinator of Sports and Activities to Assistant Executive Director.

Huck, who brings experience in educational administration and athletics, will oversee Theatre, Speech & Debate and Soccer. Turner, who joined MSHSAA in July 2023, will continue to oversee Swimming & Diving and Track & Field while also taking on expanded responsibilities in eligibility and interpretations.

 

“We are pleased to welcome Alex Huck to the MSHSAA team and to recognize the outstanding work of Stephanie Turner with this well-earned promotion,” MSHSAA Executive Director Dr. Jennifer Rukstad said. “Both bring a wealth of experience, leadership and passion for interscholastic activities, and we look forward to their contributions in enhancing programs for students across Missouri.”

 

About Alex Huck

 

Huck, a graduate of Christian Brothers College High School, comes to MSHSAA with a strong background in interscholastic activities management, eligibility compliance and event coordination. Most recently, he served as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Affton High School, where he managed activities and athletics for more than 300 student-athletes and oversaw competition schedules for 23 extracurricular programs. Prior to that, he held the same role at Battle High School in Columbia, where he directed athletics and activities for more than 800 student-athletes and assisted in developing the Central Missouri Activities Conference. Huck was also the Boys Soccer coach for the Spartans from 2017-19.

 

“I am extremely excited for the opportunity to join the executive staff at MSHSAA and to serve our member schools,” Huck said. “I look forward to continuing to build positive relationships throughout the state and am thrilled to be able to help support our Speech & Debate, Theatre and Soccer communities, creating tremendous opportunities for our students.”

 

A graduate of the University of Missouri with a master’s degree in education, Huck also holds an education specialist degree in education administration from William Woods University. His experience includes planning and administering MSHSAA district and quarterfinal events, overseeing coaching staff evaluations and leading community engagement efforts.

 

Huck will officially begin his new role as Assistant Executive Director this spring.

 

About Stephanie Turner

 

Turner was a longtime educator and coach at South Callaway High School in Mokane. She served as an art teacher since 2008 and was the head cross country coach from 2011 onward. A graduate of William Woods University with a degree in Art Education, she later earned a master’s degree in positive coaching from the University of Missouri.

 

“It has been an honor serving MSHSAA schools for the past two years,” Turner said. “I have truly enjoyed getting to know individuals across the state whose priority is education-based athletics and activities and witnessing their passion for developing well-rounded students. I look forward to my continued role with MSHSAA and the opportunity to keep serving Missouri schools.”

 

Turner’s background in education, coaching and leadership will continue to serve MSHSAA member schools and student-athletes well in her new role. Turner will officially begin as Assistant Executive Director on July 1, 2025.
