NBA: Dallas Mavericks Head Coach Rick Carlisle Resigns After 13 Seasons

Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle resigned yesterday after 13 years with the team. 

Carlisle said the decision to resign was his but didn’t give specific reasons on why he is leaving the Mavericks. He was the third longest tenured head coach in the NBA after San Antonio’s Greg Poppovich and Miami’s Erik Spoelstra.

Carlisle led the team to an NBA Championship in the 2010-2011 season.

He had a career record of 555-478 in the regular season and 33-38 in the playoffs.
