NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said that completing the NHL regular season “may not be possible.”
The NHL paused its season on March 12th due to the coronavirus outbreak, with players ordered to remain quarantined in their homes until at least April 15th.
Bettman said the best thing to do would be complete the regular season and then go into the playoffs as they normally do…. but that likely won’t be possible.

He added the league faces issues of fairness regarding “who gets in if we can’t complete the regular season” before the Stanley Cup playoffs begin.
