No. 12 Softball Picked Fifth in SEC Preseason Coaches Poll

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri softball was picked to finish fifth in the Southeastern Conference by the league’s coaches, the conference announced on Monday. The Tigers have never been picked higher than sixth in the SEC since the league moved away from ranking by division in 2014.

The Tigers finished fourth in the regular season during the 2021 season after being picked to finish eighth. During Head Coach Larissa Anderson‘s tenure, Mizzou has finished higher than its preseason prediction in each year. In 2019, Mizzou was picked last in the conference before finishing in a tie for sixth place during the regular season. The 2020 season was cut short, but the Tigers swept their only SEC opponent of the season after being picked 10th.

Mizzou appeared in its first Super Regional since 2016 and hosted for the first time since 2013. The Tigers return nearly every starter from the 2021 team.

The Tigers’ season will open the season in Leesburg, Florida on February 11th at the Northern Lights Invitational.
