No. 18/17 Tigers Travel to Illinois for Braggin’ Rights Doubleheader

URBANA, Ill. – No. 18/17 University of Missouri softball (16-6, 0-2 SEC) travels to Illinois (11-7) on Wednesday in a Braggin’ Rights doubleheader starting at noon CT on B1G+.

The Tigers will look to bounce back after dropping both games against Tennessee to start SEC play. Mizzou fell behind early in each game, falling 14-3 in game one before coming up just short in game two with a 5-4 final.

SERIES HISTORY

The Tigers lead the all-time series 10-5 over the Illini. Illinois won the last meeting in 2020 by a score of 2-1. That game was the final game that the Tigers’ played before the season was shutdown due to COVID-19.

DALY DINGERS

Kara Daly became the first Mizzou hitter to homer in five-straight games with her solo home run in the first game against Tennessee.

SHE GETS ON BASE

Jenna Laird recorded her team-leading eighth multi-hit game of the season in the first game. She leads the Tigers with 24 hits on the season.

RECORD CHASING

Brooke Wilmes is among the top ten in program history in home runs, RBI, doubles, hits and runs scored. She is one of five Tigers to reach 250 career hits.

Kimberly Wert is currently tied for second in program history with 46 home runs. With two more homers, she would become the Mizzou all-time home run leader.
