BATON ROUGE, La. – Powered by an offense that scored in four of the first five innings, No. 2 LSU completed a three-game Southeastern Conference series sweep of University of Missouri baseball with a 10-5 victory Sunday afternoon at Alex Box Stadium.
LSU (20-1, 3-0 SEC) set the tone early, scoring four times in the opening frame after the first of Ethan Frey’s three hits on the day produced the game’s first run. Jake Brown belted a two-out, two-run home run to right to hand the home-standing Tigers the early 4-0 lead.
Mizzou (8-11, 0-3 SEC) responded in the second after Brock Daniels singled to start the inning, moved to second on a ground ball and came home on Tyler Macon’s base hit to right field. The Tigers drew closer in the third, slicing the LSU advantage to two runs on a Kaden Peer sacrifice fly following a hit batsman, a walk and a balk.
Following Steven Milam’s run-scoring fielder’s choice – his second RBI of the day – in the home half of the third, Mizzou plated a run for the third-straight inning in the fourth, pulling to within 5-3 on Gehrig Goldbeck’s two-out single to left.
However, LSU put together a big fourth-inning rally for the third-consecutive day to seize control of the game for good. The Tigers, who scored a total of eight fourth-inning runs over the first two games of the series, struck for three more in the finale, using an RBI-grounder by Jared Jones and back-to-back run-scoring hits from Daniel Dickinson and Frey to take an 8-3 lead. They added a single run in the fifth on a bases-loaded wild pitch to make it a six-run affair.
Mizzou scratched out a single tally in the seventh on Daniels’ two-out single and another in the ninth on a Peer base hit. Daniels finished 2-for-3, while Goldbeck reached base in each of his final four trips to the plate, going 2-for-3 with a pair of walks and an RBI to lead the MU offense.
LSU was led by three-hit performances from Curiel and Frey, while Brown and Milam each chipped in with a pair of RBIs to help the Tigers notch their 15th straight victory.

- With the setback, Mizzou dropped to 4-23 all-time vs. LSU, including a 1-13 mark against the Tigers in Baton Rouge.
- Jackson Lovich saw his 10-game hit streak come to an end with an 0-for-3 day at the plate for Mizzou.
- Goldbeck notched his fourth multi-hit game as a Tiger, while Daniels recorded his fourth of the season.
- Peer’s two-RBI effort marked his third multi-RBI game this season.
- James Vaughn turned in his fourth scoreless relief outing as a Tiger, working 1 1/3 hitless innings with two strikeouts.
- Brady Kehlenbrink registered his third scoreless appearance on the mound with a scoreless eighth inning.
