Opening Day for the Royals and Cardinals

The Cardinals begin the 2023 season with a game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals are trying to get back to the playoffs for the fifth-straight season. They haven’t ended a year with a losing record since 2007. Miles Mikolas will start for the Redbirds. Key additions for the Cardinals, the number four prospect in baseball Jordan Walker and Willson Contreras who will be behind the plate and will be wearing special cleats that honor Yadier Molina.

The Royals will host the Minnesota Twins for Opening Day at Kauffman Stadium. Kansas City has Zack Greinke as its starter for the opener. The Royals finished last season 65-and-97 while missing the playoffs for the seventh straight year. This will be manager Mike Quatraro’s debut. Building around the club’s young talent of Bobby Witt Jr and Brady Singer on the mound, the Royals added Jordan Lyles, Aroldis Chapman and Ryan Yarbrough. Many experts have the Royals finishing no better than fourth in the division.
