The Cardinals surrendered 18 hits during a 12-2 loss to the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. The Cardinals gave up the first 12 runs in the game before finally getting on the board in the seventh. Drew Rom was charged with his fourth loss after allowing six earned runs and two unearned runs on 11 hits in three-and-a-third innings. Luken Baker hit a two-run home run in the losing effort. St. Louis remains in fifth place in the NL Central at 68-and-88. The Cards visit Milwaukee tomorrow.
