Patrick Mahomes is ready to get back to playing meaningful football

Patrick Mahomes is ready to get back to playing meaningful football. Monday night against Denver will mark his first regular-season game since suffering a season-ending knee injury last December, ending a long road of rehabilitation and preparation. Mahomes has worked his way back onto the field during training camp and says he feels ready to put the rehab behind him and focus on getting the Chiefs off to a good start.

There are still questions about how much the knee will affect the way Mahomes plays. He’ll wear a knee brace Monday night and has talked about finding the right balance between protecting himself and maximizing what he does best. That includes his ability to make plays outside the pocket. Mahomes will also be working behind an offensive line that includes an undrafted rookie at left tackle, adding another storyline as the Chiefs open the regular season against the Broncos.
