The Pirates bashed the Cardinals 11-1 in their series opener from Pittsburgh. Joshua Palacios went two-for-five with a three-run homer and five RBI while Liover Peguero drove in a pair of runs. Connor Joe cracked three doubles and scored four times while Endy Rodriguez also collected three hits. Bailey Falter earned the win in relief after surrendering one run on three hits while striking out eight batters over six innings. Pittsburgh improved to 56-and-69 and is fourth in the NL Central. Andrew Knizner launched a solo homer for St. Louis, which fell to 55-and-71.
