Former Cardinals pitcher Johan Oviedo tossed a complete game shutout as the Pirates blanked the Royals 5-0 in Kansas City. Oviedo allowed just two hits and struck out five to improve to 8-and-13 on the mound. Ke’Bryan Hayes went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate and drove in a run in the victory. Alfonso Rivas added two hits and an RBI. Pittsburgh snapped a two-game losing skid and improved to 59-and-73. Zack Greinke fell to 1-and-13 on the hill after surrendering two runs over four-and-two-thirds frames. Kansas City managed just two singles as the team dropped to 41-and-92.
