Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper

Tournament History
The Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper is one of four original events still on the Korn Ferry Tour
schedule since the inaugural season in 1990. All editions of the event have been played at Highland Springs Country Club.
Many distinguished Korn Ferry Tour alumni have played in Springfield on their way to the PGA TOUR. Players such as
Tom Lehman, Jim Furyk, David Duval, Jason Dufner, Justin Thomas, Tony Finau and Xander Schauffele all competed at
the Price Cutter Charity Championship before earning their spot on TOUR. The tournament has had many notable past
champions including Stewart Cink (1996), Chris DiMarco (1997), Pat Perez (2000) and Mackenzie Hughes (2016).
Each of the last seven winners in Springfield have gone on to earn their PGA TOUR card for the following season. Last
year, Harry Higgs won his first Korn Ferry Tour title in Missouri finishing the week at 22-under 266. The Southern
Methodist University product held off Andrew Svoboda and Steve Wheatcroft to win by two strokes. Higgs went on to
finish the Regular Season ranked fifth in The 25, securing his first TOUR card.
Higgs has made 14 cuts in 21 starts on TOUR this season and is ranked 56th in the FedExCup. Earlier this season, he
earned his best TOUR finish after a solo-second at the Bermuda Championship.
Tony Romo to make Korn Ferry Tour Debut
Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will make his Korn Ferry Tour debut this week at the Price Cutter
Charity Championship. Romo competed in the 2018 Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying Tournament, making it through prequalifying but did not advance past the first stage. He also has made four starts on the PGA TOUR.
Romo quarterbacked the National Football League’s Cowboys from 2004 to 2016, guiding Dallas to four playoff berths
and earning four Pro Bowl selections. He has since worked as a TV analyst on NFL broadcasts for CBS.

Local Players in the Field
Jordan Niebrugge and Hayden Buckley lead the local contingent of players in the field this week. Niebrugge was born
Bridgeton, Missouri, and attended Oklahoma State University. The 26-year-old is currently ranked 195th in The 25 and
has made two cuts so far this season. In 2018 on the Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada, Niebrugge earned his first
professional victory at the Freedom 55 Financial Open.
Buckley was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and played his college golf at the University of Missouri. He turned
professional in 2018 after a standout career with the Tigers. This season, the 24-year-old has made two cuts in two starts
on the Korn Ferry Tour and earned his first top-25 after finishing T18 at the Utah Championship presented by Zions Bank.
Course History
Highland Springs Country Club provides players plenty of opportunities to go low. Each winner since 2003 has recorded a
score of 21-under or better en route to victory. Last year, Harry Higgs fired four rounds in the 60s to finish the week at 22-
under 266. The Robert Trent Jones Jr. design measures 7,115 yards from the tournament tees and features water hazards
that come into play on seven holes. Last season, the par-72 layout ranked as the sixth-easiest track on the Korn Ferry Tour
