The Missouri State West Plains Grizzlies faced the Three Rivers Raiders for the Second time this season, this time on their home court. Grizzlies fell to 13-9 as they were upset by the Raiders by a Final Score of 67-41.
Summary:
1st Half: Tip won by the Grizzlies. Wrap around pass and three attempted by #5, Shaun Glass it goes out of bounds and picked up by #2, Matt Hampton for the Raiders who scores first. Grizzlies get it back as the ball goes down to #1, Ryan Richardson who puts it in on the two hander as they come on the board 2-2. Ball gets down to Shaun Glass who scores on the next two pointer. #12, Ergie Kougnami with the ball after the Raiders lose it and shoots a three pointer. Raiders score some more points on the next possession, another two pointer by Hampton & one by 6”8 guard #35, Ali Oralkan. Grizzlies get it back as Ergie tries for another three, but it’s an air-ball and will be picked up by #20, Robert Alexander for the Raiders. #33, Cole Nichols score at least two buckets for the Grizzlies and forces the Grizzlies to play some tougher defense. Ball goes back to the Grizzlies and up-fake Ergie Kougnami. #2 Matt Hampton scores two more plus a rebound for the Raiders. Grizzlies are trying to trap the Raider defense and finally succeed as Richardson gets to shoot two free throws. Another foul call on the Raiders upon the next possession and Javian Downey makes 1-2 from the Line. Grizzlies are 3-6 so far from the free throw line in the first half. Both teams pick up a fair amount of fouls within the next five minutes. Grizzlies are stuck at 17 points as the Raiders lead them by six points. Another three pointer by #20, Robert Alexander and making his second point of the night. On defense, Grizzlies are having evident issues with control the height and speed of the Raiders. They finally get The Raiders as Matt Hampton picks up a foul and Shaun Glass makes two at the line.
Raiders hold onto the lead at Halftime: 28-21
2nd Half: Raiders try a few passes and a score by Alexander. Next possession for the Grizzlies and a foul call on Matt Hampton for the Raiders. Pass to Ryan Richardson who tries for the Up-Fake but misses. Raiders take it up and layup by #32, Sikou Diagouraga.On the next possession, Grizzlies finally foul and Ethan Smith makes 1-2 at the line. Rebounded by Alexander for the Raiders who scores on an easy bucket. Grizzlies take it back and another dunk by Ethan Smith. Grizzlies are able to begin to stretch the game down to thirteen as they have made only nine points from the field in the game. Lionel Kiumwimba with the offensive screen and puts the ball up to trail briefly by eleven. But rebound and three by #33, Cole Nichols. Grizzlies get it back as Kiumwimba tries for another layup but stolen back and another three for Nichols. Raiders are being left seemingly completely open on many of these big shots as Grizzlies are struggling to guard. Finally, Ryan Richardson scores a long three as they now trail by twenty two points, 52-34. Most of the free-throws Grizzlies are shooting if anything is 1-2 as most second attempts are not being made. The 6’4 Guard Matt Hampton has twenty points on the night as the game reaches 1:38 to go with the Score, 62-38.
Raiders will win the ballgame with a final score of 67-41.
