Royals 2, Cardinals 0

The Kansas City Royals snapped a six-game losing streak Sunday with a 2-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Salvador Perez provided the offense, driving in both runs, including a solo homer in the fourth inning, his seventh of the season. Perez also had a sacrifice fly in the first after Maikel Garcia scored the game’s opening run.

Stephen Kolek was sharp for Kansas City, allowing just four hits over six and a third innings to improve to 2-and-0. Daniel Lynch the Fourth and Lucas Erceg finished it off, with Erceg picking up his 11th save.

The Cardinals had their three-game winning streak snapped despite a strong outing from Andre Pallante, who struck out seven over six and two-thirds innings. St. Louis also saw shortstop Masyn Winn leave the game in the seventh inning with left knee discomfort. He’s listed as day-to-day.

The Royals open a homestand Monday night against Boston, while the Cardinals host Pittsburgh Tuesday at Busch Stadium.
