Vinnie Pasquantino put Kansas City on top with an RBI single in the third, while Salvador Perez drove in two with a base hit in the seventh. Michael Wacha earned his fifth win after striking out eight and giving up just one run on two hits over six innings. James McArthur picked up his 15th save. Kyle Isbel made a catch while slamming into the wall in centerfield to preserve the lead.
The Royals have won two of their last three games to sit at 48-and-40. They host the Rays again tonight. Right-hander Alec Marsh will start opposite Tampa Bay righty Zach Eflin.
