The Royals scored five runs in the seventh inning and held on to beat the Giants 5-4 in KC. Salvador Perez hit a two-run homer to start the rally and also tied the franchise record with his 317th. Lane Thomas capped the big inning with a two-run single. Seth Lugo threw seven innings of three-run ball as he improved to 4-and-6. Steven Cruz earned his first save. The Royals swept the three-game series and are now 5-and-1 since the break.
