Royals and Cardinals games scores

The Dodgers stormed back from six runs down to beat the Cardinals 7-6 in St. Louis.  Hanser Alberto came up big in the top of the ninth inning with a go-ahead RBI single and Max Muncy tied the game with a sacrifice fly earlier in the frame.  Craig Kimbrel got the win in relief, while Evan Phillips pitched a clean ninth for his first save.  Los Angeles improved to 57-and-30.  Giovanny Gallegos was tagged with the loss and blown save after allowing two runs.  Nolan Arenado homered in the rough loss for St. Louis, which fell to 48-and-43.

The Royals scored four runs in the fourth inning as they topped the Tigers 5-2 in Kansas City.  Hunter Dozier had two hits and drove in a run for the Royals.  Brady Singer gave up just one run over six innings to earn the win for the Royals, who are 35-and-53.  Tarik Skubal allowed five runs over six innings to take the loss for the Tigers.  Javy Baez had two hits and drove in a run for Detroit.  The Tigers are 37-and-52.

The Royals will be without 10 regular players for their four-game series in Toronto beginning Thursday because they are not vaccinated against COVID-19, which is required before entering Canada.

Infielders Whit Merrifield and Hunter Dozier; outfielders Andrew Benintendi, Michael A. Taylor and Kyle Isbel; catchers MJ Melendez and Cam Gallagher; starting pitchers Brad Keller and Brady Singer; and reliever Dylan Coleman were placed on the restricted list, meaning they will lose pay and service time for four days, the club announced Wednesday. The Royals will also be without some coaches, although names were not revealed Wednesday.
