Softball Drops Series Finale at No. 15/16 Mississippi State

STARKVILLE, Miss. – University of Missouri softball fell to No. 15/16 Mississippi State (33-11, 9-6 SEC), 10-2, Sunday afternoon in the series finale at Nusz Park.

With the loss, Missouri moves to 21-24 this season and 3-12 in SEC play. MSU took the weekend SEC series, 2-1.

MU jumped out to a 2-0 lead Sunday on a Taylor Ebbs home run. Ebbs smashed a two-run shot to right center in the first frame.

The home run marked her ninth of the season (career-high is 10 in 2022 at Kentucky) and second in as many games. The senior from Keizer, Oregon, now has 34 career homers.

Ebbs finished Sunday 1-for-2 with two RBI (27 in 2025) and a run for her team-leading ninth multi-RBI game. She has five RBI over the past two games.

The Bulldogs responded with 10 unanswered runs over four innings to earn the run-rule victory. MSU hit four homers Sunday including a pair from Kiarra Sells.

Claire Cahalan extended her reached base streak to three games with a leadoff single to commence the game.

Stefania Abruscato was hit by a pitch Sunday and has now reached base safely in four-straight games.

Cierra Harrison was assessed the loss (9-8) in the start. She allowed three earned runs on five hits over an inning with a strikeout.

Marissa McCann, Nathalie Touchet and Taylor Pannell all saw relief action Sunday. McCann pitched two innings, surrendering four earned runs on four hits with a pair of strikeouts.

Touchet (0 ER, 2 H, 0.2 IP) and Pannell (0 ER, 1 H, 0.1 IP) combined for the final inning.

With a strikeout Sunday, Pannell has now thrown 100 career innings at Mizzou.

  • The Tigers next return home for a midweek matchup against SIUE on Tuesday at the Mizzou Softball Stadium.
  • Missouri then hosts No. 3 Texas A&M for a weekend series, April 17-19.
