COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri softball dropped its doubleheader with No. 1 Texas Sunday at Mizzou Softball Stadium.
MU was edged by the Longhorns, 4-3, in the noon matchup before dropping an extra inning affair in the series finale, 3-1.
Mizzou moves to 20-21 this season and 2-10 in SEC games following the series sweep by Texas.
No. 1 Texas 4, Mizzou 3
Mizzou’s late rally fell short in the doubleheader opener Sunday.
Trailing 4-0, Kara Daly connected with her ninth homer of the campaign, a three-run shot to center, to cut the deficit to one in the bottom of the seventh.
The long ball marked the 39th of her career. She ranks 10th all-time in Mizzou program history and will move into tied for ninth for career homers at Mizzou with 40 (Micaela Minner, 2005-09).
Daly and Julia Crenshaw both scored on the home run as the duo both registered their 100th career runs after touching home.
Daly compiled her team-leading eighth multi-RBI game (fourth three-RBI game in 2025) of the season. She and Kayley Lenger also each had two walks.
Texas took an early 4-0 lead in the first following a three-run homer by Katie Stewart.
Cierra Harrison registered a complete-game outing (fourth in 2025), allowing four earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts and three walks. She was assessed the loss and is now 9-6 in 2025.
Crenshaw caught her seventh runner stealing in the second and ranks tied for first in the SEC for the defensive category. The catcher from O’Fallon, Missouri, also paced the Tigers offensively, going 2-for-4 with a run.
Stefania Abruscato also added two hits (2-for-4) in the Sunday opener.
No. 1 Texas 3, Mizzou 1 – 8 Innings
In the finale, Mizzou and Texas need extra innings to settle a 1-1 deadlock.
The Longhorns got on the board first in the fourth with a solo home run from Mia Scott.
Sophomore Madison Walker answered that with a solo homer to right field to even the game. For Walker, the home run was her 14th of the season and she is two away from joining the Mizzou top-8 for homers in a single-season.
The Longhorns then picked up the extra innings win with a two-run sacrifice fly from Joley Mitchell in the eighth.
Senior Julia Crenshaw had a season-high matching three hits over the finale, going 3-for-4. She now has a team-high 13 multi-hit games this season and totaled five hits (5-for-8) over Sunday’s doubleheader.
Marissa McCann allowed just one earned run on six hits with three strikeouts over 5.2 innings in the no-decision.
Taylor Pannell came in to relieve McCann in the fifth, allowing two earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts. She was handed the loss (4-5 in 2025).
