COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri softball fell to Southern Illinois (22-15), 5-3, Wednesday evening at Mizzou Softball Stadium.
With the loss, Missouri moves to 21-21 on the season.
Julia Crenshaw recorded two RBI for the Tigers, including a solo home run and an RBI double. The home run marked her career-best 11th of the season. She finished 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI to go with a walk.
Crenshaw’s RBI double in the bottom of the third marked her team-leading 12th of the season.
Crenshaw later came around to score in the same inning, providing Missouri a 2-0 lead. The O’Fallon, Missouri, native also drew her 31st walk of the season. She has now hit safely in three-straight games after her team-leading 14th multi-hit game.
Kayley Lenger, a junior from Liberty, Missouri, recorded two hits, including her second double of the season to go with a run. She is currently on a three-game hitting streak.
Southern Illinois bounced back from down 2-0 with a three-run home run in the top of the fourth. The Salukis added two more runs in the top of the fifth and seventh.
Trailing 4-2, Crenshaw cut the deficit to one in the fifth with a round tripper to left.
Freshman Nevaeh Watkins made her first career start in left field.
Marissa McCann was handed the loss (7-9 in 2025), allowing three earned runs on three hits to go with five strikeouts over 3.2 innings in the start.
Taylor Pannell added three strikeouts. She surrendered one earned run on three hits over 3.1 innings of relief work.
Head coach Larissa Anderson was assessed an administrative ejection in the top of the fourth inning with assistant coach Jeff Cottrill assuming acting head coaching duties to conclude the game.
