Softball to Take Part in 2023 Division 1 NFCA Leadoff Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo.  – The University of Missouri softball team was announced as a part of the 2023 Division 1 NFCA Leadoff Classic, set to take place Feb. 10-12, 2023. The sixteen-team field will serve as the season opener for Mizzou.

The 20th edition of the event will take place at the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater, Fla. with each team playing a total of five games. The field includes 2022 Women’s College World Series participants Texas and Northwestern, including 10 NCAA Regional teams from last season.

Mizzou’s slate of games includes Texas, the 2022 Women’s College World Series runner-up, in the season opening game on Friday, Feb. 10. Mizzou will also face off against 2022 WCWS participant, Northwestern. The Tigers full schedule is below.

In 2020, Mizzou went 5-0 in the NFCA Leadoff Classic which included wins against No. 8 Minnesota, Notre Dame, Baylor and Louisville.

Friday, Feb. 10 – vs. Texas – 4 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 10 – vs. Fordham – 6:30 p.m.
Saturday – Feb. 11 – Northwestern – 4 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 11 – Louisville – 6:30 p.m.
Sunday, Feb. 12 – Prairie View A&M – 12:30 p.m.
