Major League Baseball will begin canceling regular-season games if the league and the Players Association can’t come to terms on a new collective bargaining agreement by Monday. The games would not be made up and players would not be paid a full-season salary. The sides remain far apart on a new agreement. The union is likely to pull expanded playoffs off the table if players aren’t paid a full season’s salary.
The White Hall School Board has voted to name former Arkansas Razorback quarterback Ryan Mallett as their next head football coach. Mallett is a former collegiate and NFL quarterback who signed to play for Michigan out of high school before transferring to Arkansas for his sophomore season to lead the Razorbacks in 2009-10. Mallett was hired as Offensive Coordinator at Mountain Home in April 2020 and helped the Bombers to end a 23-game losing streak with back-to-back wins over Nettleton and Batesville during the 2021 season, eventually finishing with a 4-8 record. The Bombers defeated Sylvan Hills in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs before losing in round two to the Class 6A state runner up Greenwood Bulldogs with the help of Mallett.
