Area youngsters entering grades two through eight are invited to participate in the Grizzly Basketball Camp Dec. 20-22 at the West Plains Civic Center.
The camp is being hosted by Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Basketball Head Coach Jared Phay, Assistant Coach Jason Owens and members of the Grizzly Basketball team.
The Willard Tigers scored a meet-low 74 points to win this year’s boys event. Placing second, and just five points behind this year’s district champion, was Webb City. Third place went to West Plains and fourth to Bolivar.
All four teams will advance on to this year’s state meet. The district’s top 30 placers all earn All-District honors.
On the girls’ side, the West Plains Lady Zizzers scored a district meet low of just 31 points to grab this year’s Class 4 District 2 title. Second place went to Webb City with 85 with the Bolivar Liberators finishing third at 120. Fourth place went out to the Rolla Bulldogs with 121. Last year West Plains won the Class 4 state title, this year they’ll get a unique opportunity to repeat.
Saturday the Lady Eagles of Liberty dell to Skyline in the class 2 state quarterfinals 3-0 Skyline advances to the final four in Cape on Fri Nov 5th.
