Gainesville made its first final four appearance in program history in baseball and fell 6-0 to Portageville at US Ballpark in Ozark. Great season for the Gainesville Bulldogs. Gainesville plays Plattsburg today for 3rd place.

West Plains brought home second place team trophies Boys and Girls in the state meet and 18 of the all-state honors. Both the boys and girls finished second place in the Class 4 team standings.

West Plains won only one individual state title. That title was won with authority, as senior Dagen Kenslow threw the javelin a new meet record 194’8. It is No. 29 throw in the nation according the MileSplit. Sprinter Heston Miller earned four all-state honors taking second in the 100 and fifth in the 200 while running legs on West Plains’ all-state 4×200 relay (second) and 4×100 relay (fourth place). Joshua Leazer was also on those relays and finished second in the triple jump for three all-state finishes.

Aiden Brigman and Blake Tinsley were the other two legs on the 4×100 while Connor Lair and Jason Lopez ran with Miller and Leazer on the 4×100. Brigman took fourth in the high jump while teammate Steven Zuchowski took seventh in the same event.

West Plains had no state champions but 10 all-state finishes. The Lady Zizzers were led by three state runner-up performances in the 1600 (Jordan Kantola), 800 (Brayden Kantola) and the 3200-meter relay (Jayna Gunter, Jordan Kantola, Brayden Kantola, Addison Sanders). Jordan Kantola added a third all-state honors by taking fourth in the 3200.

West Plains’ 4×200 relay (Yasmine Brashers, Katie Bowers, Raigan King, Laura Dixon) and 4×100 relay (Emily Howell, Bowers, King, Dixon) each finished third. Dixon took eighth in the 200 individually for a third all-state honor.

Jayna Gunter was fifth in the 3200 and fifth in the 1600. Kaylea Dixon (sixth in the triple jump) rounded out the scoring for West Plains.
