A familiar face will rejoin the Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Basketball team for the 2022-2023 season. Martaveon Jones, a 6-foot, 2-inch sophomore guard from Kansas City, recently signed a national letter of intent to play for the Grizzlies during the upcoming season, Grizzly Basketball Head Coach Jared Phay said. Jones, an all-state selection at Southeast High School, was a star performer for the Grizzlies during the pandemic affected 2020-2021 season. He averaged 12.4 points, 4.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds and earned first team All-Region 16 Team honors. Personal reasons kept Jones from playing for the Grizzlies during this past season.
Sectional high school basketball scores from last night. Class 4 boys sectional round Willow Springs over Lamar 66-42. On the girls sectional round in class 4 Doniphan lost to Central park hills 49-38. Ava Lady Bears knocked off Seneca 48-30 to advance to the quarter finals.
Class 5 girls quarter finals to be played this Saturday, West Plains will face Carl Junction in Bolivar at SBU at 1pm game will air on kdy 102.5. winner goes to the final four in class 5. Girls Class 4 quarter final at Lebanon Ava vs Helias Catholic 1pm Saturday and boys class 4 quarter finals at Lebanon Willow Springs vs Father Tolton Saturday at 245 game will be broadcast on kuku 100.3.
