Tigers Close Home Schedule With Kentucky Thursday

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri women’s basketball team closes out the home portion of the schedule Thursday, facing Kentucky in Southeastern Conference action inside Mizzou Arena.

The Tigers (17-10, 6-8) and Wildcats (13-11, 6-8) tip things off at 7 p.m. CT in a game airing on SEC Network+ and the Tiger Radio Network. Mizzou beat Mississippi State on Sunday and UK enters on a four-game winning streak.

LAST TIME THEY MET
• Then No. 15/14 Kentucky narrowly escaped an upset bit at Memorial Coliseum, using an 11-2 run over the final 3:06 to put Mizzou away for good and earn a 61-55 win. LaDazhia Williams and Aijha Blackwell scored 23 and 13 points, respectively with Blackwell grabbing a then career-high 19 boards. UK was 9-of-10 from the charity stripe in the final minutes of the game.

• Kentucky leads the all-time series 9-4 with the margin tied at three wins apiece in Columbia.

 

THE SHOOTAROUND
• The Tigers started the year with an 8-game winning streak, the best since 2015-16 and its 11-2 nonconference record represents the program’s best since 2017-18.
• The Tigers 17 wins this season are their most since the 2018-19 campaign.
• With 14 points and 18 rebounds vs. Mississippi State, junior guard Aijha Blackwell recorded her 19th double-double of the season and the 39th of her career.
• Blackwell has 332 rebounds on the season, good for third on the Mizzou all-time single-season chart.
Hayley Frank became the 39th Tigers player in the 1000-career points club at Georgia on Thursday.
• Frank (66) and Lauren Hansen (58) are on pace to be the first teammates to hit 60+ 3-pointers in a season.
• Frank has three-straight games with double-digit points. She totals a team-leading 407 points on the season and hassled the Tigers in scoring in 10 contests.
