OXFORD, MISS. — Led by a school-record performance from Amari Davis, the University of Missouri men’s basketball team clicked on all areas for a dominating 25-point, 78-53, road victory at Ole Miss Tuesday evening. The margin of victory is the third-largest since Mizzou (8-9, 2-3 SEC) joined the SEC and the largest since March 6, 2019.
Amari Davis tied a program record with his perfect 10-of-10 performance from the floor for a season-high 23 points. Davis is just the second player in NCAA Division 1 to go 10-of-10 from the floor this season and the first SEC player to do so since Erik Murphy Nov. 14, 2012. It was Davis’ 17th 20+-point game of his career.
Kobe Brown and Javon Pickett also contributed double-digit scoring efforts with 15 and 11, respectively. Jarron Coleman came up big for the Tigers with a career-high 13 rebounds and tying a season-high seven assists. The redshirt junior contributed eight points.
TURNING POINT
After holding a 38-23 lead at half, Mizzou started the second-half with a pair of buckets by Brown. Ole Miss (9-8, 1-4 SEC) eventually cut the margin down to 10, 57-47, on a 9-0 run but Mizzou held steady with a timely basket by Brown. Brown’s layup kickstarted a 21-4 stretch that the Tigers’ would close out the game on. Mizzou shot an outrageous 70.8 percent as a team from the floor in the second half, going 17-of-24.
