Tigers Host Florida in Final Home Series

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri baseball (25-20, 7-17 SEC) welcomes Florida (30-18, 11-13 SEC) in the Tigers’ final home series of the season. All three games of the series will stream on SEC Network +.

Friday’s series opener is set for a 6 p.m. first pitch. Mizzou will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday prior to the 2 p.m. first pitch. The series finale is slated for a 1 p.m. start on Sunday afternoon.

SERIES BUSINESS

  • Mizzou and Florida meet for the 31st time in Friday’s series opener. The Gators hold a 26-4 edge in the all-time series.
  • The Gators have won 15-straight in the series with 11 of those coming by two runs or less, including seven one-run games.
  • The Tigers are 3-9 against Florida at home with the Gators taking the last six contests in Columbia, all by a single run.
  • Mizzou’s most recent win came in 2015, part of a series win for the Tigers at Taylor Stadium.
  • Last season, the Tigers were swept in Gainesville, falling by two runs in all three games.

SENIOR SATURDAY

AUSTIN STILL SURGING

  • Sophomore Trevor Austin had his 15-game hitting streak snapped in the finale at Ole Miss, but is still one of the hottest bats in the league.
  • Over the 15-game streak, Austin batted a blistering .418 with nine RBI, five doubles and three homers.
  • Austin scored 13 runs during the streak, crossing home in 10 different games.
  • The left fielder walked 10 times over the streak and was hit twice while striking out just nine times. His .515 OBP led the club in the streak.
  • The 15-game stretch raised Austin’s average from .237 to .311 on the year. His OPS went from .736 to .916 entering the weekend.

RUSTAD ROLLS IN RELIEF

  • Kansas City native Carter Rustad continues to deal out of the bullpen with a 2.77 ERA in relief appearances.
  • The righty was stellar in helping Mizzou secure the Kentucky series with 4.2 scoreless innings in relief.
  • Rustad fanned five Wildcats in the outing while allowing just three hits.
  • The third-year pitcher continued his strong work with 2.1 IP of scoreless baseball at No. 22 LSU.
  • The righty had his string of 14-straight scoreless innings snapped when his inherited runner scored in the finale against Mississippi State. Rustad went 4.1 innings with just the single run in helping the Tigers claim the series.
  • His 34 strikeouts out of the ‘pen lead all Tiger relievers.
  • He’s been even better in SEC action, posting a 1.82 ERA in nine appearances. The mark ranks third among qualified pitchers in SEC games.

SCOUTING THE GATORS

  • Florida enters the weekend riding a five-game winning streak after sweeping Mississippi State.
  • The Gators are led at the plate by Wyatt Langford who hits .355 with 16 homers and 50 RBI on the season.
  • Florida has hit 88 homers as a team, ranking eighth nationally. Jud Fabian paces the Gators with 19 long balls.
  • On the mound, Florida leans on Brandon Sproat to lead the rotation after top prospect Hunter Barco went down with an injury. The Gators own a 4.29 ERA on the season.
