COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri baseball (18-11, 3-9 SEC) returns to Taylor Stadium on Tuesday night to welcome Western Illinois (4-24, 2-7 Summit) for a 6 p.m. first pitch on SEC Network +.
Fans can also catch Mizzou baseball on the airwaves all season long on KTGR and the Tiger Radio Network. Tex Little and Matt Michaels will have the call.

PITCHING PROBABLES
Mizzou will send right-hander Holden Phelps to the mound for his first start of the season. The sophomore will be making his fifth appearance of the season and owns a 2.45 ERA in 3.2 innings of work. He has struck out eight while limiting opponents to a .167 average.
Western Illinois will throw right-hander Jake Armstrong who will also be making his first start. Armstrong has made seven appearances this season with an 18.51 ERA in 11.2 innings. He has struck out 11, walked six and opponents hit .400 off the righty.
SERIES BUSINESS
- Mizzou and Western Illinois meet for the 31st time Tuesday night. The Tigers lead the all-time series 25-5.
- Mizzou has won six-straight in the series dating back to 2008, including a three-game series sweep in the most recent meetings in 2020.
- The Tigers are 24-4 against the Leathernecks when playing in Columbia.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Tigers ran into No. 1 Tennessee over the weekend, suffering a sweep at the hands of the hottest team in baseball.
- Mizzou led in each of the first two games of the series before getting the tying run to third base in Sunday’s finale, but the Volunteers had the answers each day.
- The Tigers’ Friday night lead marked the first time in 125 innings the Volunteers had trailed at any point in a game.
- Luke Mann, Torin Montgomery and Nander De Sedas all hit .364 (4-for-11) against the vaunted Vols pitching staff to lead the Tigers. Mann homered twice with three RBI while Montgomery had a homer and two RBI and De Sedas an RBI-double.
SUPER MANN TAKES FLIGHT
- Third baseman Luke Mann has roared to life at the plate with five homers in his last six games.
- He hit three round-trippers in the final two games of the South Carolina series, including a mammoth 443-foot shot at 108 mph off the bat in Saturday’s meeting. Sunday’s performance was a two-homer game for the junior with four RBI and four runs scored.
- Mann continued his torrid stretch with homers in the first inning of the Friday and Saturday games at Tennessee.
- Over the six-game stretch, Mann is hitting .364 (8-for-22) with five homers, nine RBI and eight runs scored. He’s slugging 1.045 with a .500 on-base percentage as well.
SCOUTING THE LEATHERNECKS
- Western Illinois enters Tuesday’s matchup at 4-24 on the season. The Leathernecks are coming off a 1-2 weekend at South Dakota State.
- Nick Mitchell leads WIU at the plate with a .352 average and 19 RBI on the season. Kory Olsen is just behind at .340 with 15 RBI.
- As a team, Western Illinois hits .259 while slugging .345.
- On the mound, the Leathernecks own a 9.52 ERA while opponents hit .317.
