Tigers Send Two to Podium, Set New School Record

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Mizzou Track & Field wrapped up the final day of the 2021 SEC Championships Saturday, putting two athletes on the podium and setting a new school record in the women’s triple jump. In the team tallies, the women finished tenth with 26 points while the men finished 13th with 21 points.

After a back-and-forth battle during Saturday’s event with teammate Mara Hausler for the No. 2 spot on the school record list, sophomore Arianna Fisher (San Jose, Calif.) claimed the Mizzou women’s triple jump crown with a personal record 13.56m jump. Fisher now holds program marks for both the indoor and outdoor event.

On the track, senior Chris Conrad (O’Fallon, Ill.) followed up his personal record-setting preliminary race by finishing with the bronze medal in the men’s 800m race. His personal record of 1:47.45 will be a top-48 mark and qualify him for an NCAA regional bid.

Also contributing to scoring for the men were freshman William Sinclair (Tauwhare, New Zealand) and sophomore Martin Prodanov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) in the 1500m, sophomore Georgi Nachev (Yambol, Bulgaria) in the triple jump and redshirt senior Thomas George (Gloucester, England) in the 5000m.

For the women, the highest scorer was redshirt-junior Melissa Menghini (Fenton, Mo.) in the 3000m steeplechase. Also contributing to scoring in track events was junior Sarah Chapman (Maidenhead, England) in the 5000m and redshirt junior Karina Liz (Aurora, Ill.) in the 800m.
