COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri baseball will open the 2023 season at the College Baseball Showdown at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas on Feb. 17-19. The three-day event will pit the Tigers against Big 12 foes Texas, Oklahoma State and TCU.
Globe Life Field, the home of the Texas Rangers, has hosted the College Baseball Showdown since 2021. All three of the Tigers’ opponents in the opening weekend event finished the 2022 season ranked in the top 25.
“We’re very excited to open the 2023 season in the College Baseball Showdown at Globe Life Field,” head coach Steve Bieser said. “This is an incredible opportunity for our players to compete in one of college baseball’s premier events and experience a first-class MLB environment. I know our fans will have plenty to look forward to in rekindling some historic rivalries dating back to the Big Eight era and beyond. It is a privilege to represent Missouri and we are grateful to REV Entertainment and the Texas Rangers for the invitation.”
The 2023 College Baseball Showdown will reignite Mizzou’s baseball rivalry with former Big Eight and Big 12 rival Oklahoma State. The opening weekend meeting will be the 228th all-time between the Tigers and Cowboys and the first since 2012. Mizzou meets Texas for the 26th time on the diamond and has won four-straight over the Longhorns. The Tigers are 8-8 all-time against TCU, but are meeting for just the second time since 1967.
