Columbia, Mo. – Mizzou senior running back Tyler Badie is a member of watch lists released on Thursday by the Wuerffel Trophy and the Paul Hornung Award. The Wuerffel Trophy is college football’s premier award for community service. The Paul Hornung Award recognizes the most versatile player in college football.
A spring 2021 University of Missouri sport management graduate, Badie totals nearly 150 hours of community service during his time at Mizzou. His activities include Mizzou Impact, Freshmen Move-In and the Susan G. Komen Race. He is also a member of the Doak Walker Award Watch List (nation’s best running back) and an AFCA Good Works Team nominee.
“Giving back is a family tradition and we live by the motto, ‘to whom much is given, much is required’, Badie said. “When I give back, the smile on the other person’s face and knowing I made an impact, inspires me and reminds me of why it’s so essential.”
Badie ranked second among all Tigers in touchdowns (six), rushing (242 yards) and all-purpose yards (738 yards / 73.8 ypg) in 2020. He was the only Tiger to catch a pass in every single game in 2020 and has caught a pass in 22 of his last 23 games.
Last season, Badie had six rushes for 79 yards and two fourth-quarter touchdowns vs. Arkansas (12/5) and scored two touchdowns vs. No. 17/16 LSU (10/10). He found the end zone on the ground while adding seven catches for a career-high 102 receiving yards vs. Vanderbilt (11/28/20).
