Celebrate Paula Wiedemann Friday Feb 17th 6 to 8pm at the West Plains Civic Center Exhibit Hall need to RSVP by Feb 8th on line at WPAdvancement@missouristate.edu After 26 seasons with the Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Volleyball program – the past 14 as its head coach, Paula Wiedemann is retiring. University officials made the announcement, Dec. 12. Her retirement will be effective March 1, 2023. So come celebrate the great run of Coach Wiedemann.

West Plains Parks and Recreation will be having and Adult 18 and older and high school 13 to 17 volleyball league. Registration is going on now till February 17th. It’s a ten-game season plus a tournament cost for the league is $400.00 per team. You can register your team at the Parks Office or call 417-256 -7304 games will start in March.

 

Zizzer Baseball “Tacos & Trivia” February 25th, 6:00PM, West Plains Elementary this is the main fundraiser for West Plains Zizzer Baseball team which helps cover costs for travel, team meals, field maintenance and equipment big goal for the year: new backstop net. The West Plains High School Lady Zizzer Basketball Team will host their Tenth Annual Zizzer Pink Out night on Monday, Feb. 6, 2023, at West Plains High School. Games will begin at 4:30 p.m., with the Freshmen, Junior Varsity and Varsity teams in action against Waynesville. West Plains Bank and Trust Company is the sponsor for the event and all proceeds raised will benefit Ozarks Healthcare Cancer Treatment Center.

 

Half Marathon – 10K – 13.1 Relay – 2.5 Mile (Mindy’s Run) ​February 18, 2023 – 7:30 a.m. A special part of our event is “Mindy’s Run” and Hero Sign sales. Every year we sell these signs which are displayed along the course race morning. They are $50 and the profits will benefit this young man in his fight against cancer. You don’t have to run to buy a sign. Or you can make a donation. To do either of these things contact Brenda Miller at 417-257-8798. Deadline is extended to February 9.
