- LOUIS – Less than a month before the start of the spring football season, the Missouri Valley Football Conference announced Thursday (Jan. 21) it would redraw the 2021 spring schedules for every school.
The change was necessitated after Indiana State recently announced it would opt out of spring football this season.
The MVFC noted its “unwavering commitment to providing meaningful and safe competitive opportunities for the conference’s student-athletes” in its release. The new schedule preserves an eight-game format for all 10 remaining schools, culminating with the first round of the NCAA Division I Football playoffs on Saturday, April 24.
The revamped schedule features 40 league games over eight-straight weekends (Feb. 19-April 10), holding Saturday, April 17, as a rescheduling window in the event of a postponement.
Missouri State will play four home games: kicking off the league season Feb. 20 against Illinois State, hosting North Dakota State on March 6, welcoming Southern Illinois on March 27, and renewing its series with Youngstown State on April 10.
Road games for the Bears will be at Western Illinois (Feb. 27), at South Dakota (March 13), at Northern Iowa (March 20), and at North Dakota (April 3).
Single-game ticket information for MSU’s spring home games will be announced in the near future.
