COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri women’s basketball (16-9, 5-7 SEC) fell to Arkansas, 88-71, on Sunday. The Razorbacks (16-8, 6-5 SEC) advance to 17-12 in the all-time matchup against the Tigers.
Mama Dembele scored the first four points of the game on two quick lay-ups and posted nearly half of Mizzou’s first quarter total with eight points. The Tigers led 18-15 at the end of the first quarter and took a 41-34 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Mizzou took a 47-36 lead on a Hayley Frank lay-up and two made free throws from Aijha Blackwell in the start of the third quarter. Arkansas quickly bounced back with an 11-0 run and would go on to score 28 third-quarter points to take a 62-58 lead against Mizzou, who had not trailed in the game since 1:57 in the first quarter. The Razorbacks would lead for the remainder of the game.
Frank led the team in scoring with 21 total points and five three-point buckets. Dembele posted 17 points. Together, they combined for more than half of Mizzou’s total points. Blackwell led players with 12 rebounds while dishing out three assists.
GAME NOTES
– Mama Dembele scored a career high 17 points, besting her previous total of 16 (also against Arkansas). Today marked her fourth double-digit scoring game of her career.
– LaDazhia Williams posted her seventh double-digit scoring game this season.
– Hayley Frank grabbed nine rebounds, a new season high. Frank is four points shy of hitting 1,000 in her career.
